The production of an opera involves a wide range of artistic and craft disciplines: music, singing, dance, costumes, sets, video, sound, photography, instrument making, and many others.
Each of these art forms contributes to the magic of the stage and the power of shared emotion. Yet this fascinating world can sometimes seem distant to certain audiences, particularly younger generations.
Recognizing this, Iris Daverio, principal flutist of the Paris National Opera Orchestra, founded the Cadences Libres festival in 2024.
Her goal: to share her passion for the world of opera, introduce audiences to the richness of its various roles, and offer new experiences to spectators. The festival thus aims to inspire future careers and help build the audience of tomorrow. Organized in partnership with the city of Fontainebleau, Cadences Libres is designed to be a unique annual event centered on classical music and the art of opera. Combining creativity, education, and interdisciplinary approaches, it offers a fresh way to experience the magic of opera.

Creating Cadences Libres is, above all, a desire: to share the beauty and vitality of the world of opera in a new light.
Opera is a total art form, a meeting place between music, dance, singing, light, costume, material, and gesture. Behind every note, every movement, there are women and men who invent, build, and transmit. With this festival, I wanted to open the doors to this universe, foster dialogue between disciplines, and allow everyone, both music lovers and the curious, to feel the power of this common language: emotion.
Cadences Libres is an invitation to discover, to marvel, to understand, and perhaps even to dream of taking part in it one day.
