Carmen to Go - Workshops organized by the Opéra-Comique

With “Carmen to Go”, the Opéra-Comique Workshops offer an interactive experience that invites young and old alike to explore behind the scenes of one of the world’s most famous operas.

Guided by an Opéra-Comique educator, participants open an amazing educational suitcase filled with objects, materials to touch, scents, games, and surprises. Two workshops will be offered:

• a music-themed workshop to recognize the famous arias from Carmen through a participatory quiz and discover how this work has shaped the collective imagination all the way to contemporary pop culture (1:00–1:30 PM / 2:00–2:30 PM / 3:45–4:15 PM);
• a workshop dedicated to staging, which traces the evolution of the opera’s productions, from the stereotypes of Spain present at the time of the work’s creation to the sometimes daring artistic choices that have sparked debates and scandals throughout its history (1:30–2:00 PM / 3:15–3:45 PM / 4:15–4:45 PM).

Offered in several sessions throughout the afternoon, these workshops provide a fun immersion into the world of the Opéra-Comique. They offer a unique opportunity to understand how a live performance is created and to watch Carmen with fresh eyes, whether with family or friends.
