The highlight of the Cadences Libres festival, the Gala Evening brings together singers, musicians, and dancers from the Paris Opera on stage for a musical and choreographic journey in three movements.
Under the artistic direction of Iris Daverio, this gala evening celebrates the dialogue between the arts and emotions, combining voice, instruments, and dance.
First part – Lyric singing
The soprano Sima Ouahman (Académie de l’Opéra de Paris), accompanied by pianist Jorge González Buajasán, opens the evening with a selection of French, German, and Russian melodies (Debussy, Schubert, Rachmaninov…)
Second part – Music
The musicians of the Paris Opera then take over for an instrumental interlude. On the programme: a world premiere by composer Elise Bertrand, the Air de Lenski from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin (arranged for solo flute and string ensemble), and Arensky’s Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky, Op. 35. A meeting between tradition and creation, showcasing the exceptional talent of the Paris Opera musicians.
Third part – Dance
To conclude, music and dance come together around Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, elevated by a choreographic creation by Maxime Thomas, dancer with the Paris Opera.
